BARC is excited to be adding an Adoptable Animals tab to our website. Now you can view all the little loves available at the Belchertown Animal Control Facility right from our website.
Adult cats are available for a $30 adoption fee and kittens are available for $55 adoption fee. This fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations & microchip. For more details on an available animal, please call BAC at (413) 519-1754.
During our pound tours yesterday, a Belchertown resident and her daughter brought over this poor cat that they had found abandoned, scared & filthy. He was left on the side of the road in this carrier, with a small can of cat food and the crate door open. Our ACO headed over the the vet at 7pm and was there until very late. We feel very lucky to have an ACO and her staff that care tremendously for the animals in our community.
It was a clear reminder as to why we are working so hard to complete the new animal control facility. Our current building creates a very stressful environment for our cats and dogs. There is no choice but to house them in the same room, cats in crates or dog kennels. Had the same situation happened in our future completed building, this cat would have had a calming room to be cleaned in (grooming room), a quiet and safe isolation unit to sleep in until seen by a vet and once cleared a beautiful cat colony room to socialize in or a cat condo to live in until adopted. Our #raisetheruff campaign will allow us to purchase all the items necessary to make this building safe and comfortable, truly giving these animals a temporary HOME until they are reunited with their owners or adopted to a loving family. Please take the time to view our campaign website at www.barcraisetheruff.com and view the naming opportunities available. It is a great way to be a part of this building forever.
On another important note, this a great example of how one quick stop to peek into a carrier, a box or a bag can save an animals life. It is so easy to see something and convince yourself that there is no reason to stop. Big hugs to the woman who decided to stop. You made a difference.
BARC WILL BE HOSTING POUND TOURS EVERY TUESDAY EVENING DURING THE MONTH OF MAY. COME BY THE CURRENT FACILITY AT 290 JACKSON STREET FROM 5:00PM-7:00PM AND GET A TRUE UNDERSTANDING OF WHY WE NEED A NEW FACILITY.
ON TUESDAY MAY 3RD, WE WILL BE CELEBRATING OUR PARTICIPATION IN #VALLEYGIVES. JOIN US FOR A REFRESHMENT, TOUR THE POUND AND LEARN ABOUT OUR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN (BUY ONE OF OUR NEW CAMPAIGN T-SHIRTS-CHOICE OF YELLOW OR BLUE!)!
